
A Taste of What's To Come: Food Sovereignty Declared in U.S. City
Sedgwick, Maine has done what no other town in the United States has done. The town unanimously passed an ordinance giving its citizens the right “to produce, process, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing.” This includes raw milk, locally slaughtered meats, and just about anything else you can imagine. It’s also a decided bucking of state and federal laws.
Behind the scenes, Canada is negotiating a trade deal with Europe that has the potential to undercut the local food movement as well as farmers' capacity to use their own seeds.

The Fraser Valley Food Network is a burgeoning group bringing together local community food tables to work together to eliminate hunger and create food security for all residents of the Fraser Region (Burnaby to Boston Bar).

The upcoming election in BC is a chance to address the new meat regulations that have caused havoc to small-scale farmers throughout BC. This video is focused on the North Okanagan region of BC, where many farmers are impacted. The new regulations have increased our reliance on industrial foods and reduced the amount of organic and ethically raised meat produced in the region. We would like to see a campaign across BC and urge all citizens to contact their local MLAs regarding this issue.
